Evelyn (Hollihan) Sanford passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Wesley Enhanced Living Center in Doylestown, PA. She was 84.

Evelyn was born & raised in Hammond Indiana, daughter to the late Leslie and Pauline (Wosch) Hollihan. She was a proud Hoosier, graduating from Indiana University, School of Education, Class of 1957 and where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority.

She began her first career as a Kindergarten teacher in Indianapolis, IN before moving to Menlo Park, CA where she met Tom, the man that would become her husband of 58 years. They were married and began their family in Sunnyvale, CA. After many moves around the country including to Indiana and Plymouth, MN they finally retired to Ithaca, NY. In 2010 they relocated to Doylestown, PA to be closer to their 7 grandchildren.

Evelyn enjoyed music & singing, gardening, traveling the world in her second career as a Travel Coordinator for Carlson Companies, and sharing her nightly extra-dry gin martini on the rocks and playing backgammon with her husband Tom.

Evelyn was the beloved wife of the Thomas E. Sanford; devoted mother of Susan Svikhart, Matthew Sanford (Linda) and was pre-deceased by a baby daughter Sarah; cherished sister of the late Elaine Hollihan Shultz (Clifford), loving grandmother of Katherine Radecke (Vince), Margaret and Miles Svikhart, Kimberly, Kelly, Ryan, and Lucy Sanford; thoughtful aunt of Patrick Ball, Jennifer Fahlsing, Jennifer Davis, Jeffrey Sanford, Lisa Sanford; adored sister in law of John and Nancy Sanford.

Cremation services will be private. A memorial service will be held in Doylestown PA at a later date once it is safe to do so.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to either American Heart Association, or a charity that special to you.

I'm Ellen Ball, cousin of Pat and Jenny. I remember Aunt Evelyn a lot when she visited Aunt Elaine and Uncle Ron. I babysat for her a few times when they lived in Auburn. Boy, that was e long time ago, and it was a beautiful house on Main St. I enjoyed knowing Aunt Evelyn and looked up to her
