Obituary for John "Jack" McKean

John W. “Jack” McKean died peacefully on Jan. 27, 2020, at the age of 85. Born July 14, 1934, he grew up in the Mayfair neighborhood of Philadelphia. Jack served in the U.S. Army for 2 years as part of the Allied Occupation of Germany. When he returned, he made his living as a lithographer.

Jack and Lila (née Schroepfer), his wife of 63 years, and their son, John Herman, made their home in Holland, Pa. The family attended St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Newtown, Pa. They enjoyed skiing as part of a ski club and traveling, and Jack was an avid golfer, reader, and amateur historian.

Several years ago, Jack and Lila moved to Ann’s Choice retirement community in Warminster, Pa. Jack always had a great sense of humor and kept everyone around him smiling.

He will be missed by family and friends.

Jack is survived by Lila, John, and daughter-in-law Lujuana, as well as sister-in-law Lola Wood (Chip); nephew Thomas Wood (Dawn); nieces Linda Bacha (Bill), Jeanne Scardilli (Pete), and Sally Schaller (John); and more than a dozen great-grandnieces and -nephews and one great-great-grandniece.

Cremation was private.

Donations to the Veterans Multi-Service Center (VMC) in Philadelphia are welcome (https://app.etapestry.com/onlineforms/ThePhiladelphiaVeteransMulti-/donate.html.)
