Sean Wilhelm Carty, USN (retired) passed away peacefully at his home in Pipersville, PA on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. He was 53.
Sean was born in Wuerzburg, Germany to James and Gisela (Leuschen) Carty. He grew up in the Fort Hunt area of Alexandria, VA. He was in the first graduating class of West Potomac High School (1986). Sean attended Virginia Military Institute (VMI), Class of 1990, and was commissioned in the Navy immediately following graduation. During his career as a Naval Aviator, Sean and his family lived in Pensacola, FL, Corpus Christi, TX, Norfolk, VA, Sigonella, Sicily, Andrews AFB, Anacortes WA and Pipersville, PA. Sean retired from the Navy in 2010 and began a successful career as a business development leader in the aerospace industry.
Sean loved spending time outdoors; paddle boarding, biking, golfing, gardening, hiking, and camping, especially if it meant spending time with his family and friends. He stepped up as a Boy Scout Troop Leader and enjoyed years of adventures with his son and his troop. Sean was his daughter’s number #1 sports fan. He spent hours cheering on her and her teammates and judging referee decisions under his breath.
Sean is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Krista (King) Carty and cherished children Ian and Calypso Carty. Sean is also survived by his parents James and Gisela Carty; dearest sister Kristina Carty-Pratt (Eric Pratt) ; Mother in-law Helene King; sister in-law Stacy Biggs (Randy) and brother in-law Karl King; adored nephews Harrison Biggs and Aiden Pratt; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Sean lived a large, exuberant, successful life but he always gave thanks to God for his blessings and will be remembered most for his kind, humble and generous spirit.
Sean's memorial service will be live streamed. A link will be available on this site closer to June 1st, 2021.
A visitation will be held, Tuesday June 1st, 2021 at the Doylestown United Methodist Church from 9:30-11:30 am with a memorial service immediately following at the church.
Interment with military honors will follow at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA at 1:30 pm.
